Videos - Classic Pop/Rock Artists

Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun (1983)

This song was very popular at the time of it's release and it's one of Cyndi Lauper's signature songs. It was included in the Rolling Stone magazine's "100 Greatest Pop Songs" which shows that it's still very popular today. Also, many artists today have covered this song, such as Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Jessie J. She had a bold style, which many artists have copied today. In my magazine, it would highlight the influence of past songs and how they have changed music. I have tried to grasp the style of Cyndi Lauper with my model on the front cover of my magazine; wild clothing, such as the big, black tutu skirt that my model is wearing and a zebra print top - clothes that stand out and grab attention (image on the left).
(I added this image later on after the photoshoot, to show the look I went for).

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (1975)

Queen have always been a very popular British rock band. As soon as this song was released, it became an instant success as it stayed at the top of the UK Singles Chart for 9 weeks. It reached number 1 again in 1991 following Freddie Mercury's death, staying at the top of the charts for 5 weeks. It is currently the UK's third best-selling single of all time. To prove the fact that it's still very popular today, in 2012 it topped an ITV nationwide poll in the UK to find "The Nation's Favourite Number One", which consisted of music from the past 60 years. This is the type of band I would include on an issue of my magazine, as they represent classic rock and it would make people buy it if they were on the cover because even young people still look up to them.

The Human League - Don't You Want Me (1981)

This song shot straight to number 1 in the charts and it is still considered a classic today. It is the first song to include the Linn LM-1 drum machine to hit number 1 in the UK and to top the Billboard Hot 100. My magazine would have this kind of style and highlight the great music we've had over the past few decades.
